This position is located in the Rehabilitation Department of the Veterans Home of California – Redding and provides speech therapy services to residents of the Veterans Home.

Working Conditions

E mployees of CalVet will be required to follow state or county public health guidelines and requirements enacted in accordance with infectious disease prevention and control.

Special Requirements

• The position(s) require(s) completion of educational courses as specified in the Class Specification (link available in the Minimum Requirements section).
• The position(s) require(s) a(n) Speech-Language Pathologist License. You will be required to provide a copy of your license prior to being hired.

Veterans  may qualify for a CalVet Veterans Hiring Preference. Military service must be included in the Employment History section of the Employment Applications (STD. 678). The application package must include documentation of discharge, appropriate to the branch of service. The documentation must reflect a discharge/release under conditions other than dishonorable. If the candidate fails to include this information then the CalVet Veterans Hiring Preference shall not be granted in the recruitment.

Successful completion of a live scan and a pre-employment physical (including drug testing for certain civil service classifications) will be required.

The Veterans Home of California - Redding is located in Northern California, just south of Shasta Lake, nestled between the Cascades and the Trinity Alps.  With its natural beauty and abundance of recreational opportunities, Redding combines the ambiance of a small town with the amenities of a large city.  Our facility offers free parking.

When  submitting your State Application (STD. 678) please note position # 578-164-8279-001, Job Control # 481350, and the basis of your eligibility (e.g., list appointment, transfer, SROA, Surplus, Re-employment, Reinstatement, Training and Development, and/or TAU) in the “Examination(s) or Job Title(s), For Which You Are Applying” section on the STD. 678.

Please remove any confidential information (e.g., social security number, date of birth, etc.) as well as any information regarding your LEAP eligibility and/or exam scores from your documents prior to submission.

A complete application package includes: a STD. 678, Speech-Language Pathologist License, and transcripts for Masters Degree (or recognized equivalent).

If your eligibility requires that you meet the Minimum Qualifications of the class and you qualify under pattern requiring education, then the selected candidate will be required to provide college transcripts prior to appointment .
